At Active Damp Solutions we often get calls to treat damp issues such as rising damp and penetrating damp.
Rising damp can be attributed by the lack of a damp proof course or the fact that the original damp proof course is no longer effective. Penetrating damp can be caused by leaking gutters and downpipes which are defective, higher ground levels and blocked cavities.
Condensation is also a big problem today, with many properties that do not have sufficient air circulation, such as extractor fans, to distribute the air flow. In timber treatment issues, a lack of air flow caused by insufficient air bricks, this can cause issues such as woodworm, wet rot and the dreaded dry rot.
